Are We Really Lucky?

I am dealing with a Chinese (as in China punya Chinese) contractor in this particular project I'm involved in. Today, while making small talk, the most amusing statement came out from his mouth,

"Malaysians are really a lucky lot."

Lucky?? I'm guessing 9 out of 10 people on the street would disagree and find that statement offensive, even.

He elaborated that a car and a house costs much more in Beijing than in KL. And the price of petrol is relatively cheaper. AND. he said, nobody under the age of 28 would be able to buy a house in Beiing. Apparently anybody who owns a house in Beijing is a millionaire.

Well, I don't know what to make of that actually. I mean, of what he said. I guess I was quite taken aback by this observation of a foreigner, an outsider, that we are lucky. Are we really lucky after all? Have we gotten so accustomed to complaining about the bad government, bad economy, the traffic jams, the dirty politics, bla bla this and that, that it takes a foreigner to tell us to count our blessings? Perhaps, the grass is just greener on the other side, after all.

Perfect

I've searched blogskins.com thoroughly for a blogskin that would be just right for me. I found quite a few that were to my liking, BUT. To my despair.. i just cant get the perfect one. The one i managed to install successfully didn't have a feature that i wanted. Others have the right colours, but the fonts are too small. Too ugly. Whatever. YA ya i know all these can be edited with html, but i'm too lazy ok. Plus im not familiar with html at all actually. Haha. Ok, then.. there are others that i think are just perfect.. not too bright, not too gloomy, just right.. but.. the descriptions are always, always very emo one. Haih. I guess i've given up on looking for the perfect blogskin.

Nothing's perfect in this world, eh?

My Lucky Zone

I went to Midvalley for dinner just now. I just need to get this off my chest : MIDVALLEY'S PARKING SUCKS ! i duno why, it's like damn hard to find parking and then all the routes are not smooth flowing like that, came to a dead end a few times. Anyway, i almost always try to park at the Centre Court, out of habit i guess. But the last time i was there i miraculously got a parking at the North Court after merely waiting for 2 minutes! Right in front of the entrance summore~ So. After circling and hovering around the Centre Court for almost half an hour today without much luck, i decided to head over to the North Court though i wasn't really sure where was it lar. I just pusing pusing then eh, reach North Court. So i waited.. at the entrance. For 1 minute or less. AND I GOT A PARKING THAT'S RIGHT AT THE ENTRANCE AGAIN! hahahahahah.

With that, i would like to conclude that North Court is my lucky zone. Hehehe.

The end.

Introduction and Stolen Tyres

I've always loved to read and write. Since i was small, i loved to read all sorts of things, from Nancy Drew to Enid Blyton to Tiga Sekawan ( or is it Empat? Can't remember..) to funny horror malay novels which always involve a jin.. I believed i've even read the entire R.L Stine's Fear Street series! Seriously. I guess this post serves as a sort of introductory thing to ease you all into the 'Story of My Life'. Ha - ha. I know it sounds kinda lame but i really can't think of anything cute or catchy to put lar.

Anyway, my love for reading gradually spark an interest in writing as well. I don't mean writing factual reports and boring stuff like that, but stories. Fantasies. Though, i must admit nothing i write would measure up to Wu Shin Yin's 'The Rain' story. Hahahahaa.. It would be very nice of her to post it up in her blog for other people to appreciate lor. Anyway, I've kinda derailed from what i wanted to write actually. Ok, for someone who loved to write, blogging would be a natural progression rite? I did start a blog in 2003 but it only survived 3 1-sentence-posts before it died a slow death from the i-forgot-the-login-password syndrome. On and off, i have the urge to write, especially when i feel strongly about certain issues or certain people, but the urge just never seem to be strong enough.

Yesterday i finally set up a NEW account in blogspot because the urge is finally strong enough. And the reason why i've set up this blog is to tell the whole world that my 2 brand new front tyres were stolen near the house im staying in on Saturday!!! And it was not exactly parked in some dark alleys or something, but near houses and shops too. According to rumours gathered by my uncle, there were some eyewitnesses who saw 3 middle-aged Chinese men (whom i've cursed to hell) lurking around my car around 11 something on Saturday. I only realised this on Sunday night because i only passed by my car at that time. And i find it strange to see a concrete brick under my car near the driver's seat. I didn't thought much of it at first, but my instinct made me check on the car again and only at that i realised that my 2 front tyres were gone. Together with the rims!! And.. RM500.00 flew away just like that.. can i be anymore broke? Man.

What is so poignant about this incident is.. this is my first bad encounter with this city that i've called home for the past 1 year. It kinda shakes my confidence a little on whether this is the place i want to call home for the rest of my life.. especially after hearing robbery stories from my close friends. Or maybe it's just not the year for Rats lar. Hahaha.. Anyway, i'm lazy liao. Hopefully i will keep this up and not let it die off from the same 'disease' of my first one.
